The white boot is the marmite of the boot world. Like many fashion trends you either love it or you hate it. I am in the category of loving it. For me the white boot conjures up a nostalgia within me for the days of being a kid in the 80s. Just like the little white boot a little ole me was finding my fashion groove during an era of extreme fashion. From wide, American footballer style shoulder pads to fishnet tights and mini skirts aka Madonna, 80s style was about pushing boundaries and making a statement through your sartorial wares. What better way then was there to be noticed then ditching the usual black boring boot for a bright white shiny one?
This time round I am a little ashamed to admit that I was slow to the white boot party. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I had dismissed it. I had been drooling over the various assortments on offer from the catwalks of Givenchy to Off White (where a silk scarf draped perfectly over the ankle boot) to the steel toe cowboy style at Isabel Marant. It was the search to find the perfect pair that took my step in the white boot direction so long. Finally just before Christmas I found my jewel in the dust at & Other Stories which are featured in the pic above (slotted perfectly amongst my array of teapots and cups).
What I love about the white boot is its versatility and ability to add a certain edginess to an outfit. During the darker months I rocked them with sheer black tights, a mini and a blondie t-shirt. For spring/summer I’m thinking they will work beautifully with my favourite Rixo midi-dresses.
Whatever your style the white boot seems to no longer be a fleeting trend so this season is the time to embrace it. Here are five of my favourites from online and the high-street.
These ankle boots from Zara will be easier to wear throughout the brighter months. I love the subtle animal effect that gives the boot an edgy texture.

These white cowboy boots tick two of this season’s trends at once.

You just gotta love and splurge on these slouchy laser cut beauties.

If all out white is not your thing then a touch of grey may ease you into the trend.

An embellished heel offsets these ankle boots perfectly.

Happy shopping and I would love to know if you have embraced the white boot trend!
