It’s a Cara Thing

Each fashion era has a face which is a facet of the time. In the 60’s it was Twiggy with her pixie hair cut & big eyes. The 80’s saw the power of the supermodels who had a business ethic to match their strong look. Think Cindy’s long flowing locks matched with the sharp shouldered blazer of the day. In the 90’s Kate gave us the super waif. An androgynous look which depicted the grunge style. It was obviously time for a change as it couldn’t have been any more contrary to the almightiness of the super model.

These days we seem to be looking for a touch of quirkiness, silliness, fun mixed with a striking face. I think this perfectly sums up the British Power Weight model that is Cara Delevingne. The little sister of Poppy, Care is everywhere we turn these days. The girl who put the busy eyebrow back on the most wanted list is currently the face of brands that span from Pepe Jeans to Fendi. After walking in no less than 41 shows last season Delevingne’s rise to fashion stardom is as sure a trend as any.

This month alone Delevingne features in three of the major fashion magazines. Her shoot for Vogue this month is by far one of my favourites of the season. The 20-year-old is currently one of the faces of the cover of the 5th anniversary edition of Love magazine. Inside the mag she shares an interview with her best friend Georgia May Jagger. It’s obvious that the two have a great & fun relationship. Delevingne is renowned for her mischievous streak which brings a bit of fun & brightness to an industry which can be viewed as a bit sour faced at times. The energy this girl has is magnetic & she brings it to every thing she does. The Duracell bunny of fashion plans to work on her other passion & talent in life which is music.

So far everything Delevingne has put her touch too has turned to gold & I don’t see it stopping anytime soon….
