Northside Shopping

Fashion history was made last Thursday evening as New Look unveiled its biggest store in the world, right here in Dublin. The Jervis Street Centre on Henry Street is the new home of this fabulous fashion mecca. Imagine, I can remember the days when the first Miss Selfridge arrived above the Warehouse store on Henry Street. We were so excited to finally have a U.K. shop in our little Dublin. It was the first time we could actually buy a top or a skirt that we had seen in magazines like Just Seventeen. Nearly twenty years on (yes some of us have crossed the line of 30), and New Look have chosen the fair city to house their biggest store in the world!

Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh launched the evening. Surprisingly her fellow band mate Nadine Coyle didn’t join her (she didn’t even know Kim was in town till Glenda told her on Xpose!) but our trusty Irish celebs like Brendan Courtney, Sarah Jane Wai O’Flynn and the Xpose girls were there to enjoy the exclusive VIP shopping event.

And so you think that’s big, well the first ever Forever 21 store on this side of the Atlantic also opened its doors last week. The stunning Amber Le Bon, daughter of Yasmin & Simon was there for the big opening. How gorg is she with her long locks and even longer legs! I can’t wait to head in once the crowds have died down. Lets hope our stateside favs of Old Navy & Abercrombie follow suit!

The New Look & Forever 21 stores are just another addition to the fashion power house that Henry Street has become. Between the huge H&M, River Island and Penny’s sitting alongside Irelands oldest Department Store, Arnotts, I am a definite Southside girl turned North Side Shopper!
